2026 News & Event Highlights
From July 31 to August 1, the Texas Endocrine Surgeons Society Annual Meeting brought together approximately 350 endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, trainees and other endocrine health professionals from across Texas for a weekend of education, collaboration and professional networking.
Several ºÚÁÏÉçÇø faculty members contributed to the scientific program:
- Dr. Mark Herman presented Non-Nutritive Sweeteners and Metabolic Disease.
- Dr. Bryan Jiang presented Osteoporosis in Chronic Kidney Disease: Navigating a Complex Therapeutic Landscape.
- Dr. Ruchi Gaba participated as a panelist in Complex Thyroid Cancer Cases, a multidisciplinary discussion addressing challenging clinical scenarios in advanced thyroid cancer.
The Texas Endocrinology Association (TXEA) is designed to bring together those in the field of endocrinology for conversations to improve quality of care, increase awareness, and create a professional forum for scientific and advocacy issues that surround the field of endocrinology. TXEA is a proud member of the Endocrine Alliance, a national organization that champions awareness related to endocrine disease through education and advocacy.
Dr. Ruchi Gaba, Associate Professor of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, was elected to serve as Vice President of the Texas Endocrinology Association (TXEA). As part of the association’s leadership succession, she will serve as President in two years.
Dr. Gaba looks forward to supporting TXEA’s continued growth, strengthening educational and professional development opportunities, and promoting collaboration among endocrine professionals throughout Texas.

This annual recognition honors physicians who are highly regarded by their peers for their clinical expertise, commitment to exceptional patient care, and contributions to advancing medicine. On June 30, Dr. Mandeep Bajaj, Professor, Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, was invited to speak at the American Heart Association (AHA) virtual summit on "," a live, interdisciplinary summit to translate Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Syndrome guidelines into action, organized by the AHA.
ºÚÁÏÉçÇø proudly recognizes one of our distinguished faculty members as a recipient of the 2026 Michael E. DeBakey, M.D., Excellence in Research Award.
These prestigious honors, made possible through the generous support of the DeBakey Medical Foundation, celebrate faculty whose scientific contributions over the past three years have significantly advanced clinical and basic biomedical research.
