Professional Statement
I currently serve as Chief of the Section of Epidemiology and Population Sciences, Department of Medicine at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø (BCM), where I also serve as Leader of the Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences Program in the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
My research focuses on the causes, prevention, and early detection of gastrointestinal cancers, spanning the entire cancer continuum—from identifying risk factors and evaluating screening strategies to informing prevention guidelines and improving patient outcomes.
I am equally devoted to education and training. At BCM, I direct a Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program in cancer epidemiology funded by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, providing advanced training for emerging scientists. I also serve as Associate Director of the Clinical Scientist Training Program in the BCM Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, helping guide the development of the next generation of clinician scientists.
