Melanie Samuel Lab

Our Mission

The Samuel lab seeks to uncover the molecular signals that facilitate communication between brain cells, paving the way for circuit repair. We use a 鈥榳hole circuit鈥 approach, integrating diverse methods to investigate interactions among neurons, glia, the immune system, and brain vasculature.

These brain cells engage in complex molecular 鈥榗onversations鈥 that are crucial for the overall function of our nervous system. Disruptions in these cellular dialogues can contribute to various conditions, including Alzheimer鈥檚, autism, and mental health disorders. Despite their significance, the molecular details of these cellular interactions in both health and disease remain largely unknown.

Research in the Samuel lab seeks to decode these molecular languages by identifying the key players in brain cell communication with the ultimate goal of offering new possibilities for the treatment and repair of brain diseases.
